ECS Installation Electrician Gold Card

The Installation Electrician ECS Gold Card is the industry-recognized mark of a fully qualified professional. It is designed for Level 3 skilled individuals who work unsupervised on the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical systems.

Mandatory Requirements for All Applicants

To be eligible, every applicant must provide proof of the following three core standards:

1. Technical Theory & Competency: A JIB-recognized UK Level 3 qualification (Apprenticeship or NVQ).

2. 18th Edition Wiring Regulations: A current recognized BS 7671:2018 (18th Edition) qualification.

3. Health & Safety: A valid ECS Health, Safety and Environmental (HS&E) Assessment.

Identify Your Application Route

Please follow the checklist for your specific training background to ensure a smooth application.

Route A: The Apprenticeship Route

If you have completed a formal apprenticeship, you must submit:

• Apprenticeship Completion Certificate: Issued by your provider (JIB, City & Guilds, or EAL).

• Level 3 Electrotechnical Certificate: (e.g., C&G 5357 or 2357).

  • Tip: Ensure the certificate or unit breakdown shows the Wiring Regulations were covered.

• AM2S or AM2 Certificate: Proof of passing your practical end-point assessment.

• Current ECS HS&E Assessment: Even if safety was covered in your training, a separate valid ECS HS&E certificate is required.

Route B: The NVQ Level 3 Route

If you are an adult learner or an experienced worker, you must submit:

• NVQ Level 3 Qualification: In Electrical Installation.

• AM2S / AM2E Certificate: If you have a full NVQ Level 3 the AM2S is usually included within that framework, but providing the certificate can further strengthen your application.

• 18th Edition Certification: Mandatory requirement

• Current ECS HS&E Assessment: A mandatory standalone safety certificate.
