The FESS Labourer card is designed for individuals working in a supportive role within the fire, emergency, and security systems industry. This role involves assisting qualified staff with cable installation and other unskilled tasks under direct supervision.


How to Qualify

There are two routes to obtaining this card. Please select the one that matches your current qualifications.

Route 1: For those with JIB-Approved Qualifications

If you already hold a JIB-approved technical qualification in either Electrical or FESS, you are eligible for this card.

  • Step 1: Provide your qualification certificate (Only the Health & Safety element of these qualifications is required for the Labourer level).

  • Step 2: Pass the ECS Health, Safety & Environmental Assessment.

Route 2: For those without a Theory Qualification

If you do not hold an electrical theory qualification, we require you to complete the following three steps:

1.  ECS One Day Online Course

You must successfully complete:

  • ECS One Day Online Course which will make you eligible for the ECS FESS Labourer Card without qualification certificates.

2. ECS Health, Safety & Environmental Assessment.
If you do not have Valid Health and Safety Assessment then click here to book it 👉 Click here

You must sit this assessment unless you completed the CITB, CCNSG, or SPA course listed above within the last three years.

3. Proof of Employment

You must provide evidence that you are working in the industry. This can be:

  • A written reference from your employer.

  • A signed letter from an employment agency confirming your dates of engagement.

  • A contract of employment, offer letter, or recent payslip from an electrotechnical business.

Important Note:- IOSH Course Update: Please note that ECS no longer accept IOSH course certificates for any card or exemption route, following industry-wide changes.
