About the Former Card
The Fire Detection & Alarm Systems Maintenance card was previously issued to operatives holding specialist manufacturer training and/or industry-recognized Level 2 qualifications in the maintenance of fire detection and alarm systems.
Important Qualification Changes

First-Time Applicants: If you are applying for an ECS card for the first time, please verify that you meet the new FESS qualification standards before starting your application.

Renewals: Existing cardholders may be required to meet new or additional qualification standards before a replacement card under the FESS scheme can be issued.

Verification: Please ensure you have the correct documentation for the specific FESS card you are now seeking.
Eligibility & Requirements (Current FESS Standards)
To transition to the new FESS scheme, applicants must typically meet the following criteria:

Technical Qualification: Hold accredited manufacturer training in your specialist field and/or a suitable Level 2 qualification in Fire Detection & Alarm Systems maintenance.

Employer Reference: Provide a detailed reference from your employer confirming your technical competence in this field.

Health & Safety: Hold a current ECS Health, Safety and Environmental (HS&E) Assessment.
