The ECS Network Infrastructure Installer Level 3 card is for professionals qualified to the industry-recognized Level 3 standard who install and maintain structured cabling for datacomms systems.

Depending on your qualifications, there are two versions of this card available:

Card Types & Work Scope

  • Copper Infrastructure Card: Covers the installation of structured cabling such as UTP, STP, FTP, Coaxial, and general common copper data cables.

  • Fibre Infrastructure Card: Focuses on work involving single-mode and multi-mode fibre optic cables.

Core Responsibilities:

All Level 3 holders are qualified to install necessary containment, connection units, and earthing/bonding cables. They are also skilled in fitting out enclosures with structured cable termination equipment, including hubs, switches, routers, and patch panels.


Eligibility & Requirements

To qualify for the Level 3 card, applicants must meet all three of the following criteria:

1. Professional Qualification

You must provide evidence of ONE of the following industry-recognized qualifications:

Copper Qualifications:

  • BTEC Level 3 Advanced Award in Data Communications Cable Installation

  • BTEC Level 3 Certified Network Cable Installer (Copper)

  • Open Awards Level 3 Award in Copper Datacoms Cable Installation and Testing

  • Completion of the Experienced Worker Assessment (Copper)

Fibre Qualifications:

  • BTEC Level 3 Advanced Award in Data Communications Cable Installation

  • BTEC Level 3 Certified Network Cable Installer (Fibre)

  • Open Awards Level 3 Award in Fibre Optics Installation and Testing

  • Completion of the Experienced Worker Assessment (Fibre)

General Qualifications:

  • City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in Communications Cabling (3668-03)

  • EAL Level 3 Award in Telecoms, Fibre, and Copper

2. Industry Experience

You must have an official statement from your employer or company confirming a minimum of 12 months of installation experience. Other valid evidence of experience may also be considered.

3. Health & Safety Assessment
